3 Biggest Hair Myths from a Pro Hairstylist
As a top pro hairstylist, I hear SO many things in my chair on the daily. Iβm here to debunk some common misconceptions when it comes to caring for your hair.
Letβs go girls.. π
π Misconception Number One: Shampooing less often leads to your body producing less oil, which means you can go longer in between washes and have your hair looking fresher for longer. This is just simply not true. Everyone is different, but typically your hair should be washed every few days to remove dead skin cells and product buildup. Find what works for your hair type specifically.
π Misconception Number Two: At the end of a shower, if I rinse my hair with cold water it will make it shinier once it is dry. Cue the buzzer.. wrong! This is a huge misconception I hear often. This is not true. The best water temperature for your hair is a lukewarm temperature.. not too cold and definitely never too hot.
π Misconception Number Three: Your shampoo will get used to your hair and stop working altogether. Wrong again! I promise your shampoo is not trying to gaslight you, sis. Itβs really not that smart. But, if you feel like this is happening, try out a clarifying shampoo and a scalp scrub every 3 or so washes. This will help βresetβ your hair by getting out all of the grim and gunk left from products.
